This picture captures the good news and the bad news of our last few days. The soccer goal represents the successful soccer clinic that we were able to run at the U.S. Coast Gaurd base here in Aguadilla. The fact that the soccer goal is crammed in the back of a car with our children is the bad news, our Dodge Caravan is in the shop.
A SOCCER CLINIC WITH A GREAT VIEW!
In Puerto Rico, we get the great joy of doing normal things while looking out across the beautiful and vast ocean. Just yesterday we led a soccer clinic at the Coast Guard base for kids 5-12. The Chaplain's office partnered with us to sponsor the event. We're really grateful to them because we couldn't have done it without their sponsorship.
It was a success! We had 26 kids come out to play soccer. We taught some basic skills, did some drills (including the favorite "Kick the Coach"), and played a game. After the practice and games I led a short devotion with the kids. All in all, we were really happy with how everything turned out. We got to meet many families and the kids all seemed to have a good time. Here's some pics of our time:
I'M NOT A THIEF!
Unfortunately my vehicle does not believe me. The anti-theft system will sometimes not allow me to start the vehicle. While I was stuck at Walgreens the Lord sent a retired Army guy to help me back home and then to the rental agency. I was able to start the vehicle the next day and I drove it to the dealership to get it checked out. They have identified the issue as the fuel pump module. Our vehicle will be in the shop for a week while they wait on the part. Vehicle purchasing and care has always been the bane of my existence.
TRAVEL AND MINISTRY
I went to Boston last week to participate in the SEND NETWORK GATHERING. I was encouraged by the worship and teaching. Tony Merida's sermon was especially powerful! I also enjoyed exploring Boston. I had to get me some clam chowder and a lobster roll. They were delicious!!! I'll be flying to New Orleans later this month to take the last class I need to complete my M.A. in Church Planting.
I've got two preaching opportunities this next month. We are going to be running the soccer clinic every week for the next 2 months. We are currently having conversations with a few people about joining our launch team. I'm continuing to meet like-minded pastors and missionaries on the island. We continue to pray. We devote ourselves to good works. We seek to remain steadfast in holiness. We abide in Christ, trusting that in His time the fruit will come. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
Thank you for praying for us! Thank you to all of you who are partnering with us financially. My next newsletter will be a financial update.
May the Lord continue to build His kingdom in all nations! I say this with a slight partiality to his work in Puerto Rico :)
Love you all! Keep up the great work :)
