How Are The Kids Doing?

This is one of the most common questions that we are asked. And I'm happy to report that the kids are doing really well! In fact, if you think Maria and I have had a lot going on lately, the kids have been experiencing all kinds of things through this transition. I'm dedicating this update to them and their many travels with family, old friends and new friends.

Zion's Birthday!

Zion has been the biggest traveler out of all the kids because of her two trips to Sevierville/Pigeon Forge in the last month. I'll mention the 2nd later in this blog. Her first trip was with Maria and I as we celebrated her 12th birthday and so we took her on a trip where she got Dad and Mom all to herself. We visited a Deer Farm Petting Zoo, saw some beautiful horses accompanied by cheesy competition at Dixie Stampede, escaped from a shipwrecked boat, and also spent some time with rescue cats and dogs. We had a great time with our oldest daughter and are truly excited about the Jesus-loving woman she is becoming!

Our other kids got to hang out with Steve and Sandy Skinner while we were away and they had a blast! Between playing dress-up, craft time, mountain biking and kayaking, I honestly don't think they missed us much :)

Cousin Time!

While Maria and I were away in Puerto Rico, out kids were being watched at our home by Maria's sister's family. Derek and Rachel Maddox brought their three kiddos and made the time a lot of fun. In fact, now our kids have experienced more of Georgia than we have! They got to visit multiple parks, hiked the Georgia landscape, and even endured a brisk, early morning walk to watch the sunrise from the top of Stone Mountain. We are deeply grateful to Derek and Rachel for making the time so meaningful and memorable for our kids. When they weren't blazing trails across Georgia the kids were active at the house playing with their cousins Tristan, Wesley, and Kiera. I'm sure there was never a dull moment.

Sports Galore!

The 3 oldest have joined a soccer league here called Upper90. It's a really great program and the founder's story is truly a testimony to God's grace. They practice a couple times a week and play games on Saturday. The area where they play is incredibly diverse and so not only are we meeting people with whom we get to practice our Spanish but we are rubbing shoulders with people from all around the world.

On top of that Zion got to hang out with her good friend Calleigh Faith on a week long trip back to the Pigeon Forge area to watch Micah Faith and the Hurricanes Basketball Team take the 4A 1st Place Prize! Zion is not the most sporty kid in our family but now she has watched more basketball than Josiah and I combined...haha! Her time connecting with her really good friend, Calleigh, was truly a blessing and we enjoyed catching up with the Faiths as they passed back through. We miss so many of our friends from OSC and get excited every time their travels pass through the Atlanta neck of the woods. Lately, we've been able to see the Faith fam and the Jones crew!

Well, that wraps up this update. I hope you all enjoyed this little window into our kids lives. My next update will include all the ministry opportunities that I've had in the last couple months and the furthering advancement of our journey to Puerto Rico!

May The Peace Of Christ Be With You!
